Questions

If yours is not here, send it through the contact page.

Joining and attending

Do I need to know how to code?
No. The talks are for people who use AI, whether or not they write code.
Is it free?
Yes. Joining is free, and so is every meetup.
How do I join?
For now, joining is by invitation. Ask for one through the contact page, with a line about yourself and what you would like to learn.
When and where do you meet?
The second Thursday of every month, 6:00–7:30 pm, in Lawrence, KS. Each event's page has the venue.
What happens at a meetup?
A member from the group shows what they are building with AI. Then there is time for Q&A, and time to network afterwards.

Talks and sponsorship

Can I give a talk?
Members are welcome to give talks. Talks from outside companies are welcome too, as long as they follow our no-promotion policy, below.
Can my company sponsor KAW Meetup?
Yes, sponsorships are available. Get in touch through the contact page.

The no-promotion policy for talks

Talks at KAW Meetup are about what you have built, learned or tried with AI. Speakers from companies are welcome when the talk would be just as useful to someone who will never buy from them.

  • Show real work: what you built, how, what went wrong, and what you would do differently.
  • No sales pitch: no pricing, no offers, and no calls to sign up, buy or book a demo.
  • One slide about you: at the end, who you are, where you work and a link, and nothing more.
  • No recruiting from the front: talk about jobs during social time, not during the talk.
  • A product can be the example, not the point: if a talk only makes sense as an advertisement, it is not a fit.

Send a talk idea through the contact page. The organizers read every proposal, and may suggest changes before it is scheduled.
